How the journey started...

Growing up, my late single-mother often nudged me to make several desserts each time there was a family gathering. I then became the family’s designated baker because I had the patience and passion for creating desserts that everyone would enjoy. At the time, I did not know that it was my unique patience and creativity that set me apart in the kitchen.

It was in 2021 after my mother’s passing that I began to get even more creative in the kitchen by trying new recipes and adding my own twist to some of my family’s traditional Southern desserts. The memories of watching my mother attempt to perfect our family’s Southern Tea Cakes in our humble kitchen in Compton, California inspired me to create something that would keep her memory alive forever. Thus, Pieces of Boh Sweet Desserts was birthed. Pieces of Boh was developed out of a need for more African American bakers in our local area to cater to a variety of diverse ethnicities. I thought of how my mother would always say to me, “All things, All things, work together for those who love God.” Therefore, whether it be teaching, motherhood, or baking, I wanted to share my passions and demonstrate that anyone can create something out of nothing.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthen's me." Philippians 4:14 NKJV
